Server logs
When these pages are requested, the browser transmits technically necessary details which the server records: IP address, time, address requested, volume transferred, referring address, and browser and system identification. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, the legitimate interest in secure and undisturbed operation. The logging happens at the hosting provider, which by its own account keeps the entries for less than 30 days. They are not combined with other data and are not used to analyse usage behaviour.
Hosting
These pages are delivered by Netlify, Inc., 101 2nd Street, San Francisco, CA 94105, USA. Netlify processes the log data described above on my behalf under a data processing agreement pursuant to Article 28 GDPR which incorporates the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. Data may be transferred to the United States in the process.
No cookies, no tracking
This website sets no cookies and embeds no external fonts, maps, videos or analytics, and transmits no data to third parties. That is why no consent banner appears.
Contact
Details from email enquiries are used solely to deal with the enquiry, legal basis Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Messages are deleted once they are no longer needed and no retention obligation applies.
The app
In short
The app sends nothing. It makes no internet connection, transmits no data to the provider or to third parties, and contains no advertising, analytics or crash reporting.
Camera
The viewfinder requires access to the camera. The image is processed and displayed entirely on the device. Nothing is stored until the shutter release is pressed.
Motion sensors
The motion sensors serve to estimate distance. From that the app drives depth of field and the microprism ring. The readings are not stored.
Photographs
Exposed frames remain in the roll inside the app. They reach the photo library of the device only through an explicit save.
App Store
Purchase and download run through Apple. The data collection relevant there is described in Apple's privacy policy.
Rights of users
Articles 15 to 21 GDPR provide rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, together with the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority; the competent one here is the Hamburg Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information. The provider can give no information about data from the app, since it never leaves the device.
